Hello, I am contacting you because I am having issues with my Hayward LT pH regulator and I wanted to get your opinion before ordering the probe.
Hello, what seems to be the problem?
The entire installation (pre-assembled and buried technical room) and the pool (fiberglass) are 2 seasons old and everything was working fine. Since the end of last season, the pH regulator has been displaying inconsistent values. I cleaned and descaled the probe (using bleach and hydrochloric acid) but it's still the same. I recalibrated the probe, same result. Then winter came, so I put the probe in hibernation solution, thinking it would regenerate it a bit, but it didn't.
When the probe is screwed onto the circuit, it sometimes displays random values, even going as low as 3.8 and blinking, sometimes it works. As soon as I unscrew it and immerse it in the buffer solution, it displays 7.0 correctly.
In that case, you should test the probe like this: https://ph-redox-pool.com/gb/content/16-ma-sonde-ph-est-elle-hors-service-
Okay, thank you, I will try that. After calibration, the device shows 75% efficiency for the probe and the probe always shows 7.0 when I dip it in a glass with the buffer solution.
But as soon as I screw it onto the circuit, it displays whatever it wants.
75% efficiency doesn't mean much. The value of 7.0 can also indicate that the probe is faulty. This test allows you to determine if the probe is still sensitive to acidity.
Okay, thank you. I will try that during the week and I will contact you again to let you know how it goes. If it is sensitive to acidity, do you have any other suggestions to look into? I was told to check the grounding, but I can't do that, the grounding stake is under the pool and screwed onto the side of the pool (a location was planned for it).
That is possible but very rare, and usually it causes accelerated wear on the probes instead.
Okay, thank you for your explanations and suggestions, I will test my probe as soon as possible.
Let me know how it goes. Have a great day.
Hello again, I just performed the test. So, with tap water, it showed 7.0, I added just 1ml of wine
